I miss mountains.

I miss being surrounded.

I miss seeing the jagged pieces on the horizon.

I miss driving through the desert just as the sun begins to set and the sky turns this hazy pink-purple and the mountains look like pieces of construction paper, like God or whatever higher power just tore down the page, put them down and said, Here, these are called mountains.

Winter and Spring.

We’ve reached that time of year again, when winter and spring battle it out and all you want to do is wear dresses without tights and trade the boots in for sandals.

Or maybe that’s just me.

I think of Winter and Spring like this.

Winter is like that ex that you just can’t get rid of. You were excited at first that he was around. I mean, hello, new outfits that include cute hats and scarves and coats.

Privacy or something like it.

Months ago, I got into a discussion about what privacy means and how (according to this person, anyway), my generation doesn’t value it. We’re all too forthcoming with our lives. We share everything and we’re not paranoid enough.

The point was, he thinks that we’re all going to regret it someday. Don’t we want our lives to be only our own? Don’t we want others to just butt out?

30 Rock does it again.

From the first episode I saw of “30 Rock,” I was kind of surprised to see how much I had in common with the main character, Liz (when Jack appraises her and includes the “takes up knitting every two years” quip, I thought, “Hey, me too!”).

As the seasons have gone past, I just nod when she tries to be organized by going to the container store (and then proceeds to drop them everywhere), when she falls for a guy and then tries to figure out what he’s doing by following him into an AA meeting, when she drinks too much wine and subsequently calls someone to yell at them.

My thoughts: “Oh yeah. Been there.”
